I’ve made a small amount of progress this week on the Victory socks. It took a few more days than expected to finish off that ribbing on the first sock from last week, Tuesday night to be exact. This meant that it was on Wednesday evening after work that I finally got to cast on the second sock. I am now working the heel flap on the second sock and with it being a wet and windy Sunday and no major plans only to relax and take things easy I’m hoping to make some progress on the second sock.
I have also decided on the next garment I wish to make so will be caking up some yarn for that at some point this week so that I can begin once the socks comes off the needles. I’ve opted to begin the Etna jumper for a couple of reasons. It is knit in lace weight yarn and I may get some wear out of this garment before Winter. I just don’t have the brain space at the moment with everything else going on with new routines and adjustments to work on the math of my own pattern or re-working the math on a vintage pattern, so picking a pattern to just work from seems like the best option at the moment.
The next thing to think about this week is when I might get some sewing worked into the schedule. I’m almost 3/4 of the way to my target weight goal and I’m keen now to make some items that will continue to fit me. I will by mid August have any items I need in my bought wardrobe so will be able to begin my no purchase of new clothes for a minimum of six months, I’m excited to begin this endeavour now that I am so close to my target weight, which I’m hoping to be at by Christmas so the no-purchase aim should be relatively easy to maintain.

Hubby and I are sitting here watching The Open and were just commenting on the yucky weather in Northern Ireland. Then they showed the weather radar and saw the weather was over the Republic of Ireland too. We are routing for Lowrey to win this tournament!
Anyway, I think the Etna jumper is a wise choice for the present time. Plus it is a lovely pattern. Hmmmm…..wonder what color you will use for this jumper? That sock is so pretty. I am still in love with the soft pink color.
Congrats on your journey to a slimmer you. I am sure you will hit your target by Christmas. What a wonderful gift to yourself.

The weather is atrocious Marsha at the moment and Lowry did indeed win it. He’s from Mullingar which is the town beside where I live and now living in Clara. It’s a wonderful and much deserved win for him.
I’m looking forward to showing you the colour for Etna next week, I’ve had it in stash for awhile and I still love it!

Thank you Liz, it’s been a year long journey so far and I’m pleased with the hard work put in and the results. Hoping to get Etna at least ready to go on the needles with a the swatch done but we shall see and I have had the yarn in stash for awhile for it and I still love the colour.
Aw thanks, the job is going good and I’m starting to get used to things there.

The pink for the socks is a great choice for such a delicate pattern. The Etna pattern is very elegant looking and I’m looking forward to seeing your color choice for that. Congrats on the weight loss and I like your no-purchase plan.

The pink is rather perfect in those socks isn’t it! I’m excited to get started on Etna now that I’ve decided on a pattern and the colour choice picked I think will be perfect for late Summer early Autumn.

We are on the tail end of a heat wave right now…we don’t have a/c here at the homestead, but it has been bearable with lots of fans…..your sock looks great…can’t wait to see the Etna started….

Etna looks like a pretty top! Something that will go with many bottom options, I’d think. Congratulations on the weight loss, Ruth. You inspire me! 🙂

Thank you Becki, I think Etna will do just the same and be perfect with some bottom pieces I have and plan to make.

Oh Ruth! I am so in love with that pink sock–it is a case of a perfect pattern paired with the perfect yarn. Etna looks so pretty–can’t wait to see your chosen yarn and color-although I am trying to imagine knitting a sweater out of lace weight!
Many congrats to you on your continued weight loss–what an accomplishment and making goal by Christmas sound like a dream come true.

I’m putting this sock away into my box of socks Kim and I’m going to look forward to wearing them in January…really I’ve enough socks now to wear that it’s easy to put them aside. I’m not sure how a sweater is going to look in laceweight but I’ll give it a go.
Thank you I’m hoping it’s a realistic goal for Christmas but either way I’ll keep plugging away at the weight loss.

Ah, it feels good when your clothes feel looser on your body, yeah? I have noticed changes in my body since last summer but haven’t stepped on a scale at all. I’d rather feel it. You look terrific Ruth; I admire how hard you’re hitting the trails.

First, congrats on making progress on your weight loss goals. I am certain ALL the walking you do is contributing to your success. I am going to check out Etna – I can’t imagine a sweater (jumper) in lace weight. But I know anything you choose to knit will be both beautiful and practical
