Good morning folks, just checking in today with some progress on my Mae Cardigan. It finally seems to be motoring along as I am now on the ribbing on the bottom of body. The body only had to get to 10″ so it’s a short, cropped size and why it took this long I can’t say but it did!
I might still have time to get this off the needles yet before this YOP year ends, that is the main aim for right now. Today I’m going to settle down and work on getting the ribbing done and a sleeve picked up and started.
I may head out later for a walk but have pushed off an 18/23k walk to just rest, I’ve been pushing it a bit lately. My recent walking post can be read here and I should have another post going up this week about a 22k walk along the first stage of the Old Rail Trail.
I’ve gotten some writing done and quite a bit of reading after a visit to the library to stock up on some new reading material. Other than that it’s been a quiet week. I’ve drafted up my end of year post as well as my first post for next year as I’ve been finalising my list. I’ve made a few graphics which I’ll share with the group later this week so if they wish to use them they can and that has been my making week.
So this year’s list looks like this;

Mae is soooo pretty, can’t wait to see a picture of it on and I’m sure you’ll have it finished before the end of this month. Can’t believe the distances you are clocking up now and such pretty scenery. You can see why it’s called the Emerald Isle.

Thanks Liz, I’m definitely hoping Mae will be off the needles anyway, blocked is another matter but off the needles would be good!
I can always see way more than 40 shades of green and it’s definitely the predominate colour about me when I’m out and about!

Oh Mae is motoring along! It is beautiful, I so love the colour. Your walks look amazing, but if a rest is in order, I’m sure you deserve it

Mae just seems to be hitting her stride about now Lucy lol and I love this Mondim yarn and how it’s working up in garments. A little lighter than other 4ply yarns but something I’d eagerly work with again, plus I can use it for both socks and garments so win win lol.
I think my legs are glad of the rest, I’ve been pushing them a bit, possibly too much, but oh well.

I have no doubt that Mae will be completed before the end of this YOP. I can not imagine doing 22K in a day! How long does it take you to do that distance? Of course, if I had the gorgeous scenery you do, I might be wanting to do a 22K walk myself. But with our temperatures reaching well into the 100’s now……….no way will I be walking about in those temperatures LOL! Have a good rest today. Your muscles will thank you for it.

The 22k took me 4hrs to complete that was with some stops for pictures and a fruit and water break when I got to the end before turning to come back. You can definitely only walk those distances easily here because the weather is so mild and not very hot, I simply can’t imagine walking any distance with your heat….well maybe at like 2 or 3 in the morning Marsha lol.

wow. 22km walks. That is amazing. I am chuffed with myself when I manage 10km. I imagine all that walking is the reason your sweater knitting is slow but it is all worth it.

Yeah I can’t walk those distances and still get the time to knit on the sweater, that’s one reason I think the knitting time has suffered, plus a wee mental break from knitting has been good.

Love the Mae and the color suits it very well. You’ve been so faithful to your list this year, though you’re definitely a sock over achiever! 🙂

Definitely a sock over achiever Maria this year, let’s see if I can strike the balance in that dept next year!

I have no doubt you will finish Mae before the end of this YOP year….you are a determined woman when you set your mind to something. It is such a pretty sweater….unfortunately at my age a ‘cropped’ look is not a good one on me! LOL! Good for you on your walking but I remember that it does take a bit out of you and sometimes I would return and have zero energy to get any work done. I am excited per usual for the coming year. Nothing like a fresh start! I have my projects chosen and I am taking a bit after you with trying to be a bit more realistic and practical plus sewing will be a big part this coming year. I can’t wait to see your list! Have a great week!

Thanks Sam!
I’m looking forward to the new year, this time of the year is always exciting in the YOP year isn’t it. It’s hard to find the balance between realistic and practical on the lists but that’s half the fun and even now we are still learning 9 years on!

Mae continues to look beautiful! 22K is terrific. And you look terrific in that photo of your recent hike. Reading this reminds me that I plan to walk today. The temps here are very promising this week (not higher than 75 degrees F) and my backache last week prompts me to get a move on.
