YOP – year 8 – week 37

This week has been a making week of socks. The Aster cardigan has had it’s seams added as directed in this tutorial HERE (I’m sorry I realised I forgot to link it again last week!) but still sits waiting patiently to be blocked. This week has been busy and by the time I’ve reached my projects I’ve really just wanted to pick up my needles and knit and that’s on the evenings where I’ve not been too tired. On those too tired evenings I’ve picked up my book and I’ve been reading.

So as I said the making time has gone into socks. I had just turned the heel on Evelyn’s first shortie sock last week. They are now complete and here is a picture of her wearing them. I did speak more about them on my latest podcast which is HERE.

I also finished my Hollyburn skirt and here is a modelled picture Becki for you. Again it was spoken about in greater detail on the podcast but I did enjoy the make and learned some new to me techniques. The only thing about this skirt is I’m not sure if this is a style of skirt that suits my shape, which says nothing about the pattern which was brilliant but says more about me and picking items that suit my style and shape.

So will all these projects finished I cast on a pair of Laurel Socks from the Toe-Up Socks For Everybody that I’m knitting out of this year. I’m using an Eden Cottage Yarn Tempo 4ply Yarn in the Woodland Colourway. I’m enjoying this knit and nearly finished working the gusset increases and I’ve planned to spend the remainder of the weekend enjoying knitting on them and catching up on some podcasts.

What project I’ll work on next I’ve not decided. It may be another pair of socks or another garment. I am just undecided which garment I want to complete next. I am planning to make a Cuff Top off my make nine sewing list next so perhaps by the time the socks and it is done I’ll have decided on the next project.
