YOP – year 8 – week 34

Back this week with an update. The last two weeks have been eventful with children sick with bugs and my Uncle passed away towards the end of last week. I spent some time with my cousins, they were the first ones with us after my Mum passed and then we had the wake and funeral over last weekend. It’s a life changing for them and I’m all too aware of what they are experiencing. With all that life stuff happening making time was time snatched here and there when needed.

I did get the buttons sewed onto my Coloring cardigan by Katrin Schneider. This is the first item off my make nine list for this year and has been waiting for these buttons for a couple of weeks…oh well, at least it has them now. I will model it on the next episode of my podcast, which I’ll be recording this week, for anyone who wants to see it worn.

My Aster cardigan by Marie Amelie Designs is the only project on the needles and the one I’ve been picking up and down as time has allowed this week. Last time I spoke about this I had joined the whole piece under the arms and had begun to work some of the body. The body is now worked and I’m in the process of attaching the tie at the bottom of the body. All that remains after that is the sleeves so this garment is moving along nicely.

I’ve not started February’s socks for my box of socks yet. The plan is that once the Aster is done, I’ll cast those on, I think they may run into March with February being a short month and all it’s happenings but I’m still enjoying being a monogamous knitter and have no wish to cast on a second project until what I’m working on is complete.

I did find a little time to cut out my Hollyburn skirt and that’s as far as I got as my daughter came down with a mild dose of the flu and was miserable for most of this week with it and a spiking temperature. But the pieces have been cut, progress has been made and this week I’m hoping to get back to it.

The list lies pretty much unchanged from the last post, with the exception of starting the Hollyburn skirt.
