YOP – year 8 – week 30

This week I’ve another finished garment to show off. It’s the Cumulus Blouse by Petite Knit. I’ve finally blocked it and because it’s lace weight mohair it was blocked and dried in no time, even at this time of year. Again this is another of last years projects that got finished and just languished and I think perhaps it was because by December of last year I was just done with 2018, I was mentally and physically tired and had this need to just be. That need to just be has remained and it’s lovely to just be in the moment, it is also perhaps why I have been enjoying monogamous knitting.

The monogamous knitting project is the same as last weeks one and is my Coloring Cardigan by Katrin Schneider. This needs two more rows on the last button band and it’s finished also! I started this on Jan 1st and is part of my make nine collection, so it’s taken me 20 days to knit it. Let’s hope the blocking of it doesn’t take quite as long as the Cumulus and last weeks Bentley. I picked up some buttons for this on Friday when I was in town so lets hope I get to it and can show it off to you all next Sunday!

With the Coloring coming off the needles very very shortly, I’m going to work on my Rosebud Socks for the remainder of the day and perhaps a little on my Northeasterly Blanket, I’ve started a third row of that so there should be some progress to see soon on that. Unless I get caught up with the sock this week I may end up casting on my next garment, we shall see. Ideally I’d like to finish the socks as I am aiming to complete a box of socks for myself this year.

When in town on Friday I picked up some lining for the grey linen I’m going to cut out for my Hollyburn Skirt. I finally feel ready to cut into that material and get started with that project. I was reading a blog post during the week from Paper Theory on Instagram about her 2017 buy nothing new challenge. She challenged herself to buy no new clothing in that year and instead to make what she wanted. It struck a chord with me, perhaps because I’m trying to get to the stage of having a me made wardrobe and perhaps because I want to be more intentional and thoughtful about my purchases in general this year. Either way I think it was the final thing I needed to get me in the frame of mind to start sewing the garments I’m wanting to make…finally!

I am thinking about that buy nothing new challenge and how it could work for me but I want to put a little more thought into it first.
